Platform Engineer

At Sqills we empower passenger transport operators around the world with a mission-critical software solution called S3 Passenger, ensuring that they are enabled to purchase, rebook, or scan tickets to keep public transport running smoothly and reliably. 

This is exactly why our Platform team is so important to Sqills. Together with the Cloud team, this is the team that makes sure the necessary infrastructure and tooling is available to support both our DevOps teams and our Customer facing teams in developing and using S3 Passenger. 

That is the reason this team is constantly innovating, always thinking of ways to make our infrastructure more efficient and scalable while also making sure not to lose sight of the day-to-day. Besides infrastructure, the Platform team also develops software that helps our colleagues to manage the S3 Passenger infrastructure for their team or customer. 

What will you do?

The Platform solutions are tied in on multiple (AWS) services that are provided by our Cloud team. Our Platform team consists of 4 dedicated Platform Engineers and 5 Software Developers that work from our headquarters in Enschede.

As a member of our Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust platform solutions. These solutions aim to automate everything in the setup and maintenance of environments in such a way that this can be offered in a self-service solution to all of our colleagues. Within the Platform team you will be at the forefront of technological advancements.

What are the key responsibilities?

• Design, deploy and manage scalable and reliable solutions in support of software delivery systems;

• Provide technical guidance and support within your own team and collaborate with other DevOps and Customer facing teams to understand their requirements in providing fit for purpose platform solutions;

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to anything regarding the Platform infrastructure;

• Implement and maintain security measures to protect platform solutions and data;

• Stay ahead of the curve by following relevant industry trends and developments and implementing best practice solutions.

We are looking for someone with…

• Bachelor or master’s degree or minimal 3 years of experience as an Infrastructural, Platform or Cloud Engineer or a similar role.

• Experience with automating manual processes into technical solutions.

• Experience with automating technical processes.

• Proficiency in working with AWS.

• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.

• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of database technologies such as PostgreSQL or DynamoDB

• Familiarity with working in DevOps teams, and using related tools and processes

• A drive to grow further in knowledge and experience!
