Software Tester Traineeship
At Sqills, we don’t just build software. We build the backbone of public transport systems used by millions of travelers across the world. And behind every great system? There’s an even greater tester.
That’s where you come in.
As a trainee software tester, you’ll become an essential part of our development process. You’ll help ensure our flagship product – the S3 Passenger suite – runs like a dream. But we’re not just looking for someone to tick boxes. We’re looking for someone who asks why something works, not just if it does.
From day one, you’ll step into the world of software testing with real responsibility and real impact. You’ll join one of our development teams and get your hands dirty with the software that powers the European public transport network. You won’t be thrown into the deep end alone. Our experienced testers and developers will guide you as you learn to look at software through both a critical and creative lens.
You’ll start by learning the ropes of functional testing, asking the right questions, understanding how our software works, and making sure everything behaves as it should. As you grow, you’ll dive deeper into the world of test automation, writing smart tests, analyzing results, and helping teams catch bugs before users ever notice them.
This traineeship is more than just learning how to test software. It’s about becoming someone who guards quality, spots risks before they arise, and helps build products that make a difference for millions of people.

"I originally studied Psychology and graduated with a master’s degree in Human Factors & Engineering Psychology. I learned a lot about the human component of technology, but I also wanted to know more about the technical side. The traineeship software tester allowed me to start without requiring any truly technical education.
The reason I stayed, and still enjoy working with Sqills, is because I am challenged continually. You continue to learn new things while working here. The decision to introduce new techniques is often along the lines of “just try it” and seeing if we can benefit from it. This ensures that the work you do is constantly innovative and challenging."
