Job description

Development Team Coach & Software Developer

Are you a full stack or front end developer who enjoys building high-quality software and helping teams grow and perform at their best? Do you like combining hands-on technical work with coaching, continuous improvement, and guiding a team’s collaboration and performance? Then this hybrid role might be perfect for you.

Full-time · Enschede

What we are looking for:

As a Development Team Coach & Software Developer, you’ll combine hands-on development with team coaching to make a real impact. You’ll work with up to 10 team members—including developers, testers, an information analyst, and a product owner—helping them achieve goals, improve ways of working, and grow both individually and as a team.

Collaborating closely with the Development Manager and other Team Coaches, you’ll ensure alignment across teams and create the conditions for top performance in our cloud-native SaaS environment. We’re looking for a skilled full stack or frontend developer (e.g., React) who’s as passionate about coaching and collaboration as they are about building great software.

Your responsibilities:

  • Support the team in setting clear goals and priorities aligned with Sqills’ organizational objectives;

  • Coach the team in Agile ways of working (Kanban), with a focus on flow, predictability, and continuous improvement;

  • Facilitate team moments such as retrospectives, kickoffs, refinements, and improvement sessions;

  • Encourage self-organization, ownership, and open communication within the team;

  • Help balance workloads and address day-to-day impediments that impact team progress;

  • Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members, supporting personal growth and professional development;

  • Address people-related topics such as well-being, collaboration challenges, and performance, in alignment with the Development Manager

  • Actively support knowledge sharing within the team and across teams, working together with other Development Team Coaches.

What will you do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain software modifications and enhancements;

  • Contribute to software architecture and technical decision-making;

  • Draft and review technical specifications;

  • Perform and review testing to ensure quality and stability;

  • Help monitor and maintain production environments;

  • Participate in code reviews;

  • Stay up to date with new technologies and encourage technical learning within the team.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Solid experience as a software developer, with broad technical knowledge;

  • Clear affinity with frontend development (for example React);

  • Experience in coaching or mentoring teams, supporting personal growth and team effectiveness;

  • Comfort in addressing performance and collaboration topics with team members;

  • Experience working in Agile, DevOps-oriented environments;

  • Strong communication skills in English;

  • A balanced mindset: people-focused, but results-driven.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Go, Kotlin, React and/or Type Script;

  • Enthusiasts about automation and AI tools;

  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS);

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines;

  • Experience with SaaS products;

  • Previous experience as Team Lead, Development Coach, or similar role.

What can you expect from Sqills?

  • Join an enthusiastic, diverse, and agile team of 240+ colleagues worldwide;

  • Enjoy a flat structure environment with high responsibility and the ability to make an impact;

  • Work in an open, challenging environment with ambitious professionals from varied backgrounds;

  • Take advantage of exciting travel and growth opportunities within Sqills and Siemens Mobility

  • Participate in inspiring company outings with colleagues from North America, Europe, and beyond.
